Hiriya Kempe Gowda was the most popular ruler among the Naada Prabhus of Yelahanka. Later, this dynasty came to be known as the Kempegowda dynasty. He is credited for founding Bengaluru city in 1537 CE. The city was named Bangalore during British rule.
